The idea of Prestige Eldercare was developed by Karen Aguero and Barbara Dorn, Ph. D.

With over 22 years of experience as a therapist in the geriatric field, Dr. Dorn has become a well-respected consultant to physicians. She is board certified in Geriatric Psychology and has provided services for clients in a variety of settings including private homes, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

Karen Aguero, a management consultant, had been the primary caregiver for her aging parents for several years and was experiencing the delicate balance between having a career and family and being a primary caregiver for your parents. Dr. Dorn and Ms. Aguero found themselves surrounded by other professionals who were all struggling with the same challenges of caring for and adjusting to aging family members. With those professionals they formed a team that includes care coordinators, social service specialists, pharmacists, physicians, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, and others who all have some type of personal experience with aging family members.

It is this personal experience that makes the difference. We understand. We have lived it.

What developed was a team of focused individuals with a passion for making the process of aging more palatable not only for the individual, but for the entire family. Just dealing with 'the system' and medical issues that are unfamiliar can be daunting. We are all committed to helping the elderly maintain their independence and remain in their homes for as long as possible and if and when that next level of care is necessary, guiding the family through the process with support.
